Kudos to the students listed below, chosen to represent Douglas County at the regional level of the annual Young Georgia Authors Competition!

Superintendent Trent North celebrates the accomplishments of the gifted young writers. “I admire the dedication, the creativity, and passion for storytelling these scholars have demonstrated,” he said. “This achievement reflects the hard work of the students, their families and their teachers. The Board of Education and I are proud of what they have accomplished and we look forward to their continued success.”
Every school forwarded one piece of writing per grade level, and a team of judges at the district level selected the pieces that would most effectively represent Douglas County. These chosen entries will now compete alongside submissions from our local Metropolitan Regional Educational Service Agency (MRESA), with the possibility of advancing to the state-level competition. Each winner at the district level received a certificate in recognition of their achievement. The Douglas County School System extends gratitude to the school-level Young Georgia Authors coordinators for their efforts in collecting and submitting exemplary pieces of writing on behalf of their respective schools.
