DCSS Students and Staff: Free COVID Vaccines at All 5 High Schools

In partnership with Premier Drugstore and Cobb & Douglas Public Health, all of our five high schools will host a vaccination event the week of June 21. We encourage any student who is age 12 or older and any employee who has not yet been vaccinated to take advantage of this opportunity. Governor Deal launched the first graduating class of the Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen (REACH) program in 2012. When it launched, it became Georgia's first public-private needs based scholarship opportunity with 100% of the funds raised going to college scholarships.

New Guidance on Masks; Vaccination Opportunities at High Schools

As you are probably aware, COVID-19 infection rates are decreasing in Douglas County, in Georgia, and across the country. Based on this encouraging data, masks will no longer be mandatory in Douglas County School System buildings and schools, effective June 7, 2021. The Centers for Disease Control released new guidance in May indicating that masks are no longer necessary for fully vaccinated individuals. We encourage all of our eligible students and staff to take the COVID-19 vaccine, and we have a plan to assist with this endeavor.

2021 Summer Meal Program Begins June 7

The Douglas County School System Summer Meals Program Kicks off June 7! Hot, free meals are available to children 18 and under at several sites around the county. Curbside pickup is available on Wednesdays with pre-registration at Yeager Middle and Lithia Springs High. For more information, call 770.651.2300.
