North Douglas Elementary is riding waves of excitement as students surpass their iReady goals. Scholars who met their benchmarks in the web-based program earned a special trip to the school’s game room.
During specials, students dive into fun with PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, enjoying a well-earned break with no shortage of excitement for the academic all-stars.
Principal JaQuan Carter shared that the game room was created to inspire students to complete iReady tasks in reading and math.
"At North Douglas, we offer our students a game room as a reward for completing their iReady lessons,” said Carter. “In a nutshell, each student is required to complete two lessons per week per subject area, including reading and math.”
Carter went on to say that at the end of nine weeks, students are expected to pass 18 lessons per subject area—36 total between math and ELA. To earn the game room excitement, students must complete at least 30 of those 36 lessons.
iReady is an innovative program designed to help teachers personalize learning for students in grades K-8.
“Keep swimming to the top, Stingrays,” Carter emphasized.
