books! This year, the school hosted its first “March Madness Book Tournament.” The event provided a fun and competitive way to promote reading. Lithia Springs Elementary School media specialist Melissa Babecka created the literature event to foster a love for reading.
To begin the reading event, Babecka carefully curated a list of books for the tournament, selecting titles that reflect the diverse interests of the students. This attention to detail, she explained, played an important role in building excitement for the event. Throughout the school year, Babecka makes sure literacy events like the March Madness Book Tournament capture students' attention and motivate them to get involved.
From recommending exciting new titles to leading discussions about great reads, Babecka always helps students see reading as not just a school activity but as an enjoyable, rewarding experience that can spark their imagination.
