Factory Shoals Middle School students recently put their history knowledge to the test during the Great History Challenge, a nationwide academic competition featuring a fun, game-show format designed to bring history to life. The event welcomed students in grades 6-8, celebrating their knowledge and effort.
As the only school from Douglas County to compete in this prestigious event, Factory Shoals Middle School distinguished itself among 315 schools, representing 37 states, demonstrating exceptional historical knowledge and academic excellence.
“Students at Factory Shoals excel in all areas of the Academic Curriculum, and programs like the Great History Challenge add weight to the study of history and the work of our social studies classes,” said Social Studies teacher Dr. Justin Barlow. “It was so exciting to see our Knights showing off their abilities, and we are excited to see their success at the next level of regional competitions.”
The challenge featured questions from many areas of history including American History, World History and Ancient Civilizations. The first stage included an online quiz at the school, while the second phase featured a live, head-to-head competition among top-performing students.
Following the initial event at Factory Shoals, 26 students advanced to the live regional round held at North Gwinnett Middle School on February 27th.
Congratulations to the following outstanding students who earned top scores in the event:
Courtney Martin and Jeremiah Hale (6th Grade)
Chase Mohammed and Chloe Williams (7th Grade)
Quinn Hardnett and Aria Barnes (8th Grade)
