DCSS Posse Scholar students hold up certificates

Three Douglas County School System students have been named Posse Scholars, receiving four-year, full-tuition scholarships from the Posse Foundation. The students include seniors Madeleine Martin of Douglas County High and New Manchester’s Angel Ntiamoah and Yolanda Barrios-Ortiz.

Martin and Barrios-Ortiz will attend Boston University, and Ntiamoah will attend George Washington University this fall.

The students were recognized recently at the Posse Atlanta Awards Ceremony. Posse Foundation scholarships are valued at upwards of $250,000 and are awarded nationally to students who have extraordinary leadership potential. The Posse Foundation identifies, recruits, and trains students with the potential to become leaders in every field.

The teen scholars join a pool of just nearly 1,000 scholarship recipients nationwide, selected this year from a pool of close to 20,000 nominees.
