The Douglas County School System’s top elementary and middle school math scholars Mason Creek Middle Math Team group photoshowcased their problem-solving skills Saturday at Alexander High School as they competed in the District Math Competition.

Mason Creek Middle won the middle school championship, ahead of Brighten Academy in second place and Fairplay Middle in third place.

In the elementary school competition, Mirror Lake Elementary won the championship, followed by Holly Springs Elementary in second and Bill Arp Elementary in third place.

“This year’s competition showcased the incredible talent, resilience, and teamwork of our students, with teams rising to the challenge and demonstrating outstanding problem-solving skills,” said DCSS Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning K’Asha Davis. “We are proud to celebrate their achievements and look forward to seeing their continued growth and successMirror Lake Math Team group photo in future competitions.” 

All district elementary and middle schools and Brighten Academy have the opportunity to compete in the annual competition.

Questions provided in the competition are carefully designed to align with standards, creating a challenging experience that encourages collaboration and mathematical reasoning.
