Congresswoman Lucy McBath (D-GA) invited the local community to participate in her sixth annual “Valentines for Veterans” event, and Douglas County High School joined the effort to honor local veterans through the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Principal Kenja Parks expressed heartfelt gratitude for the special visit, highlighting the impact of service and generosity in the community.
“It was a pleasure hosting Congresswoman McBath and supporting the Valentines for Veterans initiative that she holds near and dear to her heart,” said Parks. “Her visit, which was one of our highlights for the year, served as an inspiration to our students. It was heartwarming for us to showcase that we foster a culture of caring for our community and nation.”
Constituents in Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District, who were interested in participating in the program, were encouraged to drop off or mail cards to McBath’s Atlanta district office.
Each year, McBath feels honored to use her initiative to give back to local veterans who have selflessly served the country.
“My Valentines for Veterans program is a treasured part of my work to serve our community,” McBath said. “It is an honor to celebrate the men and women who have done so much in service to our nation every day, but on Valentine’s Day, it is very important that Georgia veterans know how much we love them and appreciate their sacrifices.”
