DCSS school counselors at the Capitol with Governor Brian Kemp

Professional School Counselors from all across Georgia gathered at the Capitol last week to attend School Counselors Day. The event was one of many activities around the state during National School Counseling Week. During their visit, DCSS Professional School Counselors learned about current bills that could affect students and gained insights into communicating and connecting with local and state officials. They also gained a greater understanding of responding to calls to action and advocating for Douglas County students and schools.

The Georgia House of Representatives later recognized the group for helping students achieve school success. Throughout their visit, each moment served as a reminder of the important role school counselors play in shaping the future of education and promoting student well-being.
