Science fair enthusiasts representing grades 6-12 were all smiles on Thursday, January 23, asAnointed Enahoro and Clarissa Asare-Bediako they proudly presented their individual and team projects to Douglas County School System Central Office judges and attendees at the district-level science fair. Competing for the top spot, each school-level winner showcased their work, offering insights into their innovative ideas.

DCSS Director of Literacy Dawn Taylor noted the judges were deeply inspired by the students’ vision and commitment.       

“The judges were truly amazed with the quality of projects at the district fair this year,” Taylor said. “So much so, we are sending 19 projects on to the Regional Science & Engineering Fair at the University of West Georgia on February 7th.”

A total of 29 projects were on display, highlighting the passion and creativity of the young future scientists.  

“The science fair prepares our students to become future leaders by fostering critical thinking, creativity and collaboration,” said Taylor.

• Savannah Brooks & Julie Cardenas, Lithia Springs High School 

• Luke Wilgenbusch, Mason Creek Middle School 

Third Place: 

• Oluwafemi Balogun, Lithia Springs High School  

• Daniel Adebayo, Chapel Hill Middle School
