New Douglas County wrestling coach Edgard Gousse Jr. said he’s excited to see how far the Tigers can go this year.
At the recent Winter Sports Media Day, Gousse highlighted two boys and two girls wrestlers to watch this season.
Leon Sewell, a senior competing at 175 pounds, said the team has been training hard and aims to make an impact among the top area squads.
Elijah Winston, a junior wrestling at 144 pounds, shared his excitement about the team’s potential this season.
Aleah Brooks, a junior competing at 190 pounds, noted that while many of the wrestlers are new, the team has great chemistry and works well together.
Rayna Knowlin, a junior wrestling at 125 pounds, expressed confidence in the team’s prospects.
“At practices, we're really motivated and giving it our all,” Knowlin said. “I really feel like this is going to be a great season for wrestling at DCHS.”
