Alexander High School student Tailla Elmore was recently named the Cultural Arts Council’s January Featured Artist of the Month. The teen artist specializes in textile design, blending historical trends and timeless, natural forms to create handbags, dresses and other unique garments.
Elmore shared how her passion shines through in her diverse creations.
“I am a passionate designer who loves to bring history and creativity to life through fashion," she said. "I am inspired by historical styles and nature’s beauty, specializing in intricate details, sustainable design, and crafting timeless pieces with a modern twist. From bespoke formal dresses to unique garments, my work is all about storytelling and self-expression.”
The CAC met Elmore through her participation in the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership Douglas program. While attending an informational session, the emerging artist mentioned that she designs innovative pieces with textiles.
CAC Executive Director Emily Lightner was blown away by the quality and creativity achieved by Elmore.
“The CAC is committed to the growth of young artists in our community, and has a particular focus on bridging the gap between creativity and commerce," Lightner said. "But in the case of Tailla, she may be young, but is producing professional level work, and fully earned her spot in the CAC’s Pop-Up Arts Shop.”
Every month the CAC features the unique artwork of a local craftsman in their Pop-Up Arts Shop, striving to connect the Douglasville community to affordable, locally created products.
With all items priced under $75, the community is encouraged to explore the Pop-Up Arts Shop through January 31st to see Elmore’s exceptional designs on display.
The Cultural Arts Council is located at 8652 Campbellton Street in historic downtown Douglasville and is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, please visit artsdouglas.org or contact the CAC at 770-949-2787.
