Yeager Middle School students are stepping up in a major way to ensure the safety of their school community. Under the leadership of School Resource Officer Taras Holloman, the young scholars participated in Fire Marshal and Law Enforcement training, where they took an oath and were sworn in as Junior Fire Marshals and Junior Police Officers.
Some training topics for the aspiring school community leaders included why matches and lighters are for grown ups, how smoke alarms are important, the difference between city ordinance, state and federal laws, see something/say something and no bullying zone. Officer Holloman is proud to serve the Yeager school community and even prouder to see these young students embracing the “One Team One Mission” motto.
“Here at Yeager, we have a community of learners, leaders, and educators. While the students are our primary stakeholder, it takes the entire team to be on board in order to meet our daily goals. The leadership team understands and demonstrates the purpose of leading by example,” said Officer Holloman.
The energetic school resource officer loves interacting with students on a daily basis and is grateful for the school’s warm hospitality. “Since being assigned to Yeager Middle School as a School Resource Officer, I was welcomed with open arms and support from the students, parents, staff, faculty, and administration,” expressed Holloman.
