If all you want for Christmas is to watch some great high school basketball, you’re in luck! The inaugural Cougar Christmas Classic will take place at Legacy Arena from December 26-28.
Alexander High School’s girls basketball team is hosting the tournament, which will feature eight girls teams and four boys teams.
Lady Cougars Coach Dallas Smith said Alexander played in a Christmas tournament at Campbell for years and picked up the mantle when that school couldn’t host it again this year.
“We’re excited about the opportunity to host the tournament at Legacy Arena and are hopeful that this will become an annual tradition, with the goal of involving all DCSS teams in the future,” Smith said.
Alexander’s girls and Douglas County’s girls will face off December 26 at 6:30 p.m. in a key matchup among the only two DCSS teams participating.
The girls tournament also features Campbell, Carver, Butler, Cherokee, Dalton and Roswell and will be played in a bracket-style format. The boys tournament features four teams—Campbell, Butler, Dalton and Cherokee—and will be played round-robin style.
Tickets can be purchased online at GoFan here and are $15 per day for adults, $8 per day for children and $40 for a three-day pass for all ages.
