ASES students take part in rock mining on a field trip

Kindergarten students at Arbor Station Elementary School recently discovered the thrill of mining An ASES student shows off her rocks during a field tripduring an in-house field trip presented by Diamond Del Mining. The young prospectors got their hands dirty while learning about rocks, minerals, and the mining process through education and hands-on exploration.

The adventure began with an educational video introducing students to the sluicing process. After a story about various rocks and minerals led by the Diamond Del Mining team, students headed to the sluicing van for the day's highlight—the chance to become miners.

"This is an experience that most of our kids have not had," said Mrs. Kimberly Weathington. “They had so much fun learning about the mining process. Maybe we will have paved the pathway for future geologists!"

Each young miner took home their treasures along with a chart that allowed them to continue their geological exploration. To conclude the experience, a final presentation about rock formation and the Mohs Hardness test brought science to life for the eager learners.
