Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year Terrence Labonte-Postell

Douglas County High School student Terrence Labonte-Postell has been named the 2024-2025Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year Terrence Labonte-Postell Youth of the Year by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. This 18-year-old student-athlete, who excels both academically with a 3.4 GPA and athletically on the DCHS track and field team, will represent the Douglas County club in the upcoming statewide competition. He was selected among 19 talented teens representing Metro Atlanta’s Girls & Boys and recognized at the Annual Youth of the Year celebration this month.

Labonte-Postell, a seven-year Douglas County Boys & Girls Club member, consistently demonstrates leadership and resilience. His commitment to community service can be seen through his podcast “A Better Endeavor” and his involvement in the Boys and Girls Clubs of America’s Think, Learn and Create Change program. Through that program, he was one of just three club members nationwide selected for recognition at next year’s Super Bowl.

“To me, being Youth of the Year symbolizes true leadership: someone who lifts others up when they are down, someone who sees challenges and not only promotes change but actively works to make it happen,” says Labonte-Postell, who was also named the local club’s Youth of the Year two years ago.

Boys & Girls Club Metro Atlanta President & CEO David Jernigan recently extended special congratulations to Labonte Postell: “His wisdom, passion, and dedication to his community inspire us all, and we look forward to supporting him as he continues his journey to state, regionals and nationals.”

Youth of the Year is part of the organization’s focus on character and leadership development. It recognizes exceptional teens from Boys & Girls Clubs across the country, with six finalists competing for the role of national teen spokesperson representing the organization’s 3.6 million members. The yearlong program recognizes teen club members who demonstrate exemplary academic achievement, leadership skills, and service to the community.
