Lithia Springs High School recognized new members of the National Beta Club and National Honor Society as well as a French student chosen as a district finalist for the Governor’s Honors Program during the recent Academic Night ceremony at the school.
Angelique Lekkou, French teacher and sponsor of the Beta Club and French Honor Society, said Lithia inducted 35 new members into the Beta Club and 12 into the NHS during the Nov. 12 event.
“This is the night we, the Lithia academic teachers, long for ... to see our students soar and meet their dreams and aspirations,” Lekkou said.
French student Roxanne Bile was also recognized for being selected as the district finalist in French for the Governor's Honors Program, a prestigious four-week program which will be held next summer at Georgia Southern University.
Lekkou said Bile is a member of the French Honor Society and will represent Lithia at the American Association of Teachers French National Writing Competition.
“L'homme qui parle deux langues en vaut deux = The person that speaks more than one language, deserves twice as much,” Lekkou said of Bile, adding that she is “very talented and gifted” and plans to pursue a career in financial and data analytics in college.
