Maggie Musa with her prestigious award.

Chapel Hill Middle School art teacher Maggie Musa was honored with the Excellence in Arts Education award at the Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/Douglas County’s annual Gala on Saturday.

Douglas County Schools Superintendent Trent North was in attendance and witnessed Musa receive the prestigious award. The accolade is presented to an educator, instructor or education affiliate—such as PTA, Board of Education or performing arts/music school—who makes outstanding contributions to arts education by consistently inspiring and encouraging arts in their students.

Musa was nominated for the award by DCSS District Art Specialist Tammy Morris. A leader in the district’s art program, Musa's classroom is a model of excellence, serving as a resource for new teachers to visit and glean ideas and instructional strategies.
