Douglas County High School flag football coach Andrew Adams is excited about the 2024 DC's quarterback makes a pass.season.

Adams has been with the program since it started about five years ago, including the past three seasons as head coach.

The Lady Tigers bring back several veterans, including team captains Gabrielle Sanders and Savannah Jones, both seniors, and junior Julia Hutchinson.

Sanders has been with the team all four years, Hutchinson has played three years and Jones has played two years.

Adams spotlighted Sanders for being “level headed” and a leader on the team.

Sanders is also a captain on the Lady Tigers’ golf team, and like Hutchinson and Jones, took part in several other sports while in elementary and middle school.

“The team chemistry is really good this year,” Sanders said.

Adams said Hutchinson and Jones “have a ton of energy.”

“And beyond that, they're, like, on the field, they're super intense, and that's what you want in theDouglas County's Julia Hutchinson sacks the PCHS quarterback. competitors,” he said. “You want to see some people who are there to win, and they definitely bring that to the table.”

Douglas County also has a lot of new players coming in, both at the varsity and junior varsity levels, as flag football continues to gain in popularity across the state, Adams said.

Adams said the team started working in the weight room over the summer as the Lady Tigers strive to continue to improve.

“I'm just really excited for the season,” Hutchinson said.
