The Douglas County School System is giving back in a big way by helping to provide relief to the Valdosta community following the devastation left behind by Hurricane Helene. Several schools have stepped up to the challenge to Stuff the Bus with supplies, gathering paper products, baby essentials, water and other non-perishable items.
The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter at New Manchester High School swiftly answered the call, donating nearly 1,000 pairs of socks and 100 cases of water-in less than two days.
“Our chapter mantra is and will always be service first; this is what we do,” said FBLA Chapter President Haley Ware. “We are proud to be part of a community that comes together to help those in need, and we hope our efforts can make a difference for the families affected by this disaster.”
Collectively, the New Manchester High School school community has donated dozens of paper towels, household cleaning supplies, baby diapers, wipes, food and more.
“New Manchester High School's efforts reflect our community's ability to come together in times of need,” said Principal Casey Bethel. “We are grateful for the support of students, staff, and families who contributed to this important cause. This initiative is one of many ways that our school and chapter strives to embody leadership, community engagement, and the spirit of giving.”
Today is the final day for students to contribute donations to their designated school. Please reach out to your school’s principal for more information.
The Douglas County School System and Superintendent Trent North sincerely appreciate the community’s generous support for this special initiative.
