AHS and DC runners compete at the Douglas County Cross Country Championships

Alexander High School swept the Douglas County Cross Country Championship held Tuesday afternoon at Clinton Nature Preserve behind wins by Zachary Porter in the boys race and Emily McDonald in the girls race.

Porter finished with a 16:43.93 to edge Douglas County High School's Alex Njoroge (16:45.76). Douglas County's Ian Williams (16:46.62), and Alexander's Trey Albertson (16:59.73) and Cayden Guidry (17:22.31) rounded out the top five.

Emily McDonaldMcDonald finished with a 19:30.14 to finish more than 3 minutes ahead of the rest of the pack in her win in the girls race. New Manchester's Kyara Lawrence finished second (22:39.04), followed by Alexander's Ceyonce Reid (22:46.56), Cortney Adams (22:59.98) and New Manchester's Zariah Jacobs (23:20.94).

In the team rankings, Alexander's boys (27) were followed by Douglas County in second (30), Chapel Hill in third (75), New Manchester in fourth (118) and Lithia Springs in fifth (155). On the girls side, Alexander (34) was followed by New Manchester in second (55), Chapel Hill in third (57) and Douglas County in fourth (69).
