Factory Shoals Middle School recently hosted its 2024 Doughnuts with Dads in the media center during the scholastic book fair, bringing close to 100 dads and other male figures into the school to spend quality time with their children while helping them purchase new books.
Factory Shoals Media Specialist Katrina Barnett said in recent years the school has held a similar event called Doughnuts with Dear Ones, but changed it to Doughnuts with Dads this year to target dads.
Barnett said the turnout this year was triple the number from previous events, which she said “was amazing.”
Factory Shoals Principal Dr. Raymond Leonard thanked those who attended, emphasizing the importance of parental involvement in a child’s education. He said the event provided a wonderful opportunity for students to bond with their fathers and father figures over doughnuts and books.
“We are grateful for the strong parental support at Factory Shoals Middle School,” Principal Leonard said. “Events like Doughnuts with Dads help foster a sense of community and further our mission of supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of our students. I'm grateful for the strong parental support at Factory Shoals Middle School."
