Douglas County’s cross country teams are excited about the current season.
The Tigers’ No. 1 and No. 2 runners — Alex Njoroge and Joshua Soluade — are back for their third seasons on the team.
Njoroge had the boys’ best run early in the season with a 17:25.94 at the Fleet Feet Warpath Invitational.
“We really improved a lot last year, and we're looking for great things this year and to place a little bit higher in the state and the sectionals when we go,” Boys coach Chet Forsh said.
Njoroge said he’s grateful to his coaches, friends, family and teammates for putting him in the position to succeed.
“I'm really looking forward to this season and competing hard,” he said.
Soluade added that he hopes the team continues to get better and does well at the state meet.
Girls coach Miranda Stanley said her team has a lot of depth this year.
J’Seema Hendrickson had the girls’ best run early in the season with a 23:00.24 at the Fleet Feet Warpath Invitational.
“I'm just excited to see where they go,” Stanley said of her team.
