Eastside Elementary School recently demonstrated the power of a father’s presence in education at their 2nd Annual Million Fathers March. The inspiring event is a movement aimed at actively encouraging fathers, father figures, and other male role models to support children’s academic success and life goals.
“So often fathers are not actively involved in their child's education for a wide variety of reasons. This event allows us to make time to show up for our children at school,” emphasized Principal Timothy Jenkins Sr.
Jenkins has been a longtime champion of father engagement, leading a dedicated cohort of fathers in the community through parental and personal development workshops. "Fathers engage with children which creates a bigger impact in their lives,” he said.
Community vendors shared invaluable information with the fathers, equipping them with resources and knowledge to support their children’s success. As the uplifting event concluded, fathers walked their children to class, reinforcing the importance of family involvement in academic success.
Jenkins expressed sincere gratitude to the healthcare organization, CareSource, and Fathers Matter ATL for the community support and generous donation of resources.
