Kindergarten students at Winston Elementary recently celebrated the completion of Alphabet Bootcamp by holding a parade through their building. During the bootcamp, students have a quick review of each letter before intensive, systematic phonics instruction begins. In preparation for the parade, students are assigned a letter, and they create a costume that represents a word that begins with their letter.
“Our students were so creative and excited to share what they have learned with everyone,” said Michelle Culberson, Winston’s kindergarten reading teacher. “We are so proud of our kindergarteners!”
