LSES Grandparents Day

Several Douglas County Schools celebrated Grandparents Day with love,  laughter, and cherished memories, uniting multiple generations to honor the special bond between students and their grandparents. DCSS embraces the opportunity to show gratitude and respect for all of their invaluable contributions.

Grandparents at Arbor Station Elementary packed the front lobby for “Grits for Grands” overflowing with joy and excitement about the day’s festivities. Principal Dr. Emily Felton promoted a message of appreciation for the significant role the adored elders play in the lives of their grandchildren.

“Celebrating grandparents during Grits for Grands gave an opportunity for students to honor and celebrate the wisdom, guidance and unconditional love that grandparents offer,” said Felton.

Dorsett Shoals Elementary also proudly honored their grandparents, treating them to a heartwarming lunch filled with love and admiration.

“We were thrilled to host Grandparents Day. It was an inspiring event that truly highlighted the joy and importance of family connections,” expressed Principal Kelly Brown.

Lithia Springs Elementary also took part in the festivities by creating special cards that highlighted their grandparents’ selfless contributions. Ms. Matthews’ second-grade class was all smiles while writing heartfelt letters to present to their beloved grandparents.

Principal Tonia Small expressed gratitude for their contributions that will benefit future generations.

"Grandparents are the perfect blend of love, laughter, and cherished memories that last a lifetime," she said.
