Second-year Alexander Cougar Chorus teacher Max Rampley has earned the prestigious opportunity to share his insights and expertise with the Georgia Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). The not-for-profit professional organization serves choral directors in the state of Georgia by providing professional development, resources, and networking opportunities for those involved in choral music.
Rampley will present a session entitled, "Cultivating Excellence in Your First Year: Tips for Bridging the Gap Between Student and Teacher."
The music educator shared that after his first year of teaching, he reflected on the chaos, realizing he had an “incredibly successful year.” His session will focus on college students and early career teachers.
“I wanted to share my planning system and reflections for future music educators, hopefully to support them and offer them advice as they begin their careers.”
Rampley soared as a first year teacher at Alexander High School. Some of his notable achievements include performing the national anthem at the Atlanta Braves game, Superior ratings earned at the Georgia Music Educators Association's Large Group Performance Evaluation, and winning First Prize at the Smoky Mountain Music Festival, where the Alexander Mastery Singers competed against choirs from as far away as Ohio.
The mission of the American Choral Directors Association is to inspire excellence in choral music through education, performance, composition, and advocacy.
"It is a tremendous honor to be selected as a presenter for this conference. Many of my colleagues are members of ACDA and I have been blessed to learn from them. I am also grateful to the Douglas County School System for their support during our first year together,” expressed Rampley.
