The New Manchester High School Choir is set to electrify the stage with their sultry sound at the upcoming Georgia Music Educators Conference in Athens. The distinguished choir was selected for this remarkable opportunity, one that most only can aspire to achieve.
Choral directors throughout the state will witness an entire concert performed by the esteemed ensemble, and Choir Director Antwoin Holmon is grateful for the honor and experience.
“I am deeply honored to announce that the New Manchester High School FAME Chorus, the "Jaguar Singers," have been selected to perform at the 2025 Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) In-Service Conference. Out of hundreds of high school choral ensemble submissions from across the state, we have the privilege of representing the Douglas County School System (DCSS) on this prestigious platform.”
Holomon shared that this momentous occasion marks the first time a DCSS choral group has been invited since 1990.
“For many choral directors, this opportunity is the pinnacle of their aspirations for their students, and I am incredibly proud that our students have earned this recognition.”
The Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) In-Service Conference is an annual professional development event for music educators held in Athens, Georgia. The conference offers over 130 clinic sessions with teachers and clinicians from across the country, as well as more than 40 performances from Georgia-based groups. The event also includes an exhibit hall with over 200 vendors.
With over 4,000 attendees including music directors, fine arts supervisors, college students, school administrators, and professional musicians, it stands out as one of the premier events for music education professional development.
Holmon and his exceptional choir look forward to taking the big stage and representing with DCSS pride.
“Over the past three years that I have served as the choral director for the FAME Choral program, our students have demonstrated exceptional dedication and talent, working tirelessly to reach this level of achievement. As we prepare to showcase our hard work and passion on the state stage, it is our sincere hope and mission to make DCSS proud.”
GMEA is administered by the Georgia State University College of the Arts Educational Outreach and will be held at The Classic Center in Athens from January 30 through February 1.
