Douglas County High School’s softball team is led by a pair of senior captains in first baseman Aniya Matthews and pitcher Morgan James.
Coach Kenya Fields also highlighted starting catcher Kaylyn Arnold, a junior, and third baseman Makayla Pickett, a freshman.
“I'm really excited about this season with this group of girls,” Fields said.
Fields said Matthews is “very dedicated,” James is “amazing at uplifting the team” and Pickett “is great at bringing joy to everyone.”
The coach added that Arnold has been welcoming to the new players on the team.
Arnold said that her goal for the season is to enjoy the season and to uplift her teammates.
