Board Members and Superintendent North at the Back to School Kickoff

The Douglas County School System's third annual Back to School Kickoff, held on July 20, 2024, at the new Legacy Arena, was an overwhelming success, drawing a record-breaking crowd of 4,914 attendees and volunteers.

Superintendent Trent North expressed excitement over the turnout and community support at this year's Back to School celebration. He believes the event's success reflects the community's dedication to providing students with resources and encouragement to begin the school year.

Additional highlights of the event included over 3,120 meals served to attendees and free backpacks filled with school supplies provided to students. The event also featured organizations offering valuable resources and services.

These groups included local law enforcement, fire and EMS services, parks and recreation departments, public health officials, and educational institutions.

Together, these partners provided a wealth of information and support to families and reinforced the role of the community in student success.

The school system and the Douglas County Board of Education extend heartfelt gratitude to all volunteers, educators, community partners, and families. Their contributions were invaluable in making this year's Back to School Kickoff an unprecedented success.
