Two Douglas County schools, Alexander High School and Chestnut Log Middle School, are celebrating their outstanding achievements in the National Beta Club program. These achievements highlight their commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and community service, earning them national recognition.
Alexander High School has been named a 2023-2024 National Beta School of Distinction, an honor given to only 22% of Beta Clubs nationwide. This recognition reflects the school's dedication to fostering academic achievement, exemplary character, demonstrated leadership, and service to others.
The school earned the honor of being a National Beta School of Distinction by increasing its club's membership by at least 10% from the previous year. This achievement results from their commitment to involving more students in the Beta Club's mission. Because of this achievement, Alexander High School will receive a National Beta School of Distinction banner to symbolize their accomplishment.
Principal Lora McAdams praised the school's achievement, saying: "This national award speaks highly of Alexander's commitment to academic excellence. It also illustrates our school system's dedication to preparing students for their future."
Chestnut Log Middle School has also earned national recognition. It has been named a 2023-2024 National Beta School of Merit, an honor that acknowledges the club's dedication and commitment to academic excellence.
Principal Angela Holley says the honor celebrates the hard work of Beta Club students. "I am incredibly proud of our Beta Club members and their sponsor, Mrs. Carla Thompson, for earning the National Beta School of Merit recognition. This award reflects the hard work, dedication, and leadership our students demonstrate daily. At Chestnut Log Middle School, we strive daily to cultivate academic excellence, character, and community service."
National Beta is the nation's largest independent, nonprofit, educational youth organization, boasting over 500,000 active members and 9,000 chapters nationally and internationally.
