The Douglas County School System and its Operations Department have always done their best to provide stellar facilities and to repair deficient and damaged systems in a timely manner. Several factors are hindering our traditional response times to our needs and work orders across the district, specifically pertaining to HVAC repairs, filling bus driver positions, filling custodial positions, and construction projects. The current U.S. labor shortages have impacted national food supplies, mechanical parts availability, construction project completion, and delivery times. As a result, overall lead times for many replacement and repair products have been experiencing significant delays. Although we've ordered and signed off on maintenance materials weeks ago, some items exceed four-week lead times before their availability and delivery. We are not operating in traditional times, and we are currently at the mercy of market availability. It is always our goal to provide a safe and comfortable environment conducive to teaching and learning. As soon as we receive our replacement and repair equipment, we will be sure they're installed immediately.
