BEES students at the Glow Party.

Students excelling in math at Beulah Elementary were recently treated to a special Glow and BEES students at the Glow Party.Grow Math Celebration.

Instructional Lead Teacher Sarah Brownlow organized the special event for students who met or exceeded 100% of typical growth from the iReady Math Diagnostic.

Students received a special invitation with an entrance ticket to attend the party. They were greeted by Mrs. Glow (Brownlow) and Mrs. Sparkle (music teacher Erin PotterFaile).

Once inside, the students rotated through four different glow centers. They created a glow-in-the-dark Graffiti Wall and played Tic-Tac-Glow with a partner using glow sticks and glow tape.

Students also played Glowing Ring Toss with glow rings and glow-in-the-dark cones and enjoyed Magic Math with glow-in-the-dark dice.

Students who met or exceeded 100% of their stretch growth from the iReady Math Diagnostic were recognized from each grade level and received special neon yellow vests to wear during the party.

“Our Glow and Grow Math Celebration recognized students who met or exceeded 100% of their typical growth as measured by iReady,” Brownlow said. “These students are working above and beyond to close math gaps and increase achievement. We also spotlighted our students in each grade level who met or exceeded their stretch growth—an even more ambitious level of growth. Students engaged in fun, collaborative glow activities during their regular specials time. The students enjoyed the celebration and are looking forward to another one!”
