Dear Parent/Guardian:
This spring, every student enrolled in third through eighth grade in Georgia public schools will participate in the Georgia Milestones Assessment System (GMAS). GMAS is a comprehensive summative assessment that will measure how well students have mastered content and skills as outlined in the state-adopted standards in language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. This assessment system is designed to provide students with information regarding their achievement and readiness for their next level of learning, whether it be the next grade or next course.
GMAS will be administered over several days per grade level. Below is the testing calendar for elementary school students:

Tuesday, April 29 | 3rd- 5th grade - Language Arts Sections 2 & 3 |
Wednesday, April 30 | 3rd- 5th grade - Math Sections 1 & 2 |
Thursday, May 1 | 5th grade – Science Sections 1 & 2 |
Student test results will be provided to parents when available. This information is used to diagnose individual student’s strengths and weaknesses and to gauge the quality of education.

Please encourage your child to do his/her best on these assessments. Attendance and prompt arrival to school are important to your child’s success. Testing will begin promptly at 8:00 am. Please ensure that your child gets adequate rest and eats a healthy breakfast.
