NDES Hosts Breakfast/Planning

North Douglas Elementary School Hosts Appreciation Breakfast and Planning Session
Posted on 03/06/2019

North Douglas Elementary School (NDES) recently invited their Partners in Education (PIE) to an appreciation breakfast and planning meeting at the school. ‚Äč"Our PIE partners do so much for our school," said Princess Lee, NDES counselor and PIE liaison, "but it's important to us at NDES to make this a mutually beneficial relationship. NDES administrators and several of our partners spent time after breakfast talking about needs in the school that they can help with, and ways we, in turn, can benefit their businesses and organizations."

The PIE program is designed to provide a hands-on opportunity for local businesses and organizations to share their expertise, time, ideas, and experiences to enrich the students in the community.
Businesses and organizations that partner with schools often serve as mentors, science fair judges, and career day speakers. They frequently allow groups or academic clubs to tour their businesses. And they often sponsor recognition events for students and teachers. The businesses benefit by expanding their presence in the community and helping generate a qualified workforce for the future. NDES, and all school system schools, encourage their families to shop local with their partners, too.

"We are grateful for all our partners do for us," said Ms. Lee. "We had a good planning session to make the partnerships even stronger and more focused. Teachers, students, the businesses, and the community all benefit from these strong partnerships."
