Devetrion D. Caldwell, the Douglas County Board of Education's newest member, spent most of his K-12 educational time as a student in the Douglas County School System and is a Class of 2009 Temple High School graduate. He is the youngest person ever elected locally to the board and is perhaps one of the youngest elected to any school board in Georgia.

Mr. Caldwell is a graduate of Bauder College, since affiliated with Kaplan University, with a degree in Fashion Merchandising and earned certificates in networking, social media training and event planning. He graduated with a 3.4 GPA and has aspirations to further his education.

A community advocate, Mr. Caldwell encourages dialogue connecting parents, students, staff and community. Determined, positive and efficient, he is focused on student achievement and success. He is an active community leader and is a board member as well as secretary of the Tallatoona Community Action Partnership, a renowned non-profit organization specializing in assisting low income residents acquire useful skills, knowledge and opportunities to achieve self-sufficiency. Other community engagement includes serving on the Juneteenth Committee for Douglasville, Douglas County 2017 SPLOST Selection Committee, the Black Education Historical Exhibit- Melvin Johnson Scholarship Banquet and F.I.T for The Future, A Community Development Group.

Employed by a metro area funeral home at their Douglas County location, Mr. Caldwell is also the retail manager and visual merchandising specialist for a local women's specialty boutique where he specializes in image consulting and public relations.

Mr. Caldwell is in his second term which ends December 31, 2024.
